What does an AI project for your business really cost — build and run?

Problem it solves

The cost of an AI project is not only model spend. Every job you give the model runs several times (error rate), someone must review the output (review), some outputs are unused (acceptance rate) and the system needs monthly maintenance — and all of this is converted to tomans at a dollar rate you choose.

This tool puts all these pieces together and shows what each “successful task” costs, what the monthly cost is, how much you save (or lose) versus the current method, and in how many months setup cost is recovered. It fetches no price or rate from elsewhere; every figure you see comes from your own inputs.

Inputs

Amount input unit

If you choose Rial, all amounts are divided by 10 before calculation and results are shown in Toman.

Workload

For example the number of tickets, documents, products, or messages to process each month.

Model cost per attempt

Each “attempt” is one model run on one job; retries are counted separately via the error rate. Give cost either from tokens and price per million tokens, or directly.

How model cost is entered

From tokens (Optional in "direct" mode and not included in the calculation)

Prompt, context text and user input for one attempt.

Response length the model generates for one attempt.

Take from the provider’s official pricing page; the tool has no live prices.

Usually several times the input price.

Direct

If you know the cost in dollars, leave this blank. (to Toman)

Fill only one of the two amounts; the USD amount is converted at the rate below.

Dated reference for model prices (19 September 2026)

REFERENCE This is not a live price table: each row as of 19 September 2026 (2026-09-19) Read from the provider’s official page and may have changed. Before deciding, take the figure from that page and enter it in the fields above; the tool itself does not put any price into the calculation.

USD rate

Required only for USD amounts (token price or USD cost per attempt). The rate is your input; the tool reads no rate from anywhere and repeats it on the result.

A rate you choose yourself; the tool fetches no rate and has no default. Needed only if you entered an amount in dollars. (to Toman)

E.g. “company treasury agreed rate, 25 Shahrivar 1405”. Repeated on the result and in the Excel file.

Human review

When someone reads, corrects, or approves model output.

Hourly pay and benefits for the same person, not wages alone. (to Toman)

Output quality

Error rate is about "attempts" (how often you must re-run); acceptance rate is about "jobs" (what share of final outputs are usable). Both should come from your own trial data.

Each retry is another attempt: expected attempts = 1 ÷ (1 − error rate). (Percent)

Rejected tasks still cost money; cost per successful task divides by this count. (Percent)

Build and maintenance

Design, build, data preparation, testing and team training. (to Toman)

Infrastructure, monitoring, prompt fixes, and updates—separate from model cost. (to Toman)

Current state (manual method)

Optional, but without it comparison, savings, and payback are not shown.

How many minutes are spent on this job today with the manual method.

For comparison and savings, both values in this section are required. (to Toman)

Show advanced settings (Comparison horizon, rejected jobs)
Comparison horizon and rejected jobs

Leave blank: 12 months. Setup cost is counted once over this horizon.

Tasks whose output is not accepted

The first option is conservative: manual cost for rejected tasks is added to the suggested scenario so comparison with the current approach stays fair.

Result

All amounts in toman; for 3,000 jobs per month.

  • 15,531 tomans cost per successful job (monthly AI cost ÷ accepted jobs)
  • 41,934,783 toman monthly AI cost (model + review + maintenance)
  • +120,065,217 toman monthly savings vs the current method (Including rejected tasks done manually)؛ Excluding them: +138,065,217
  • 0.5 Months until setup cost is recovered (Without replacement manual tasks: 0.4 Month)
  • 900 Toman cost per attempt × 1.09 Expected attempts per job
  • 13,978 Toman — AI cost per task, accepted or not

Comparison horizon was not entered; 12 months was assumed.

These figures are costs, not profit: revenue, the value of better or worse quality, and risk are not in the calculation, and none of this is investment advice.

Current state vs proposed scenario

The “per completed job” row compares both sides for one finished job (In the proposed scenario, rejected tasks were done manually). Positive savings means the suggested scenario is cheaper. The "AI cost only" row is the same comparison without manual substitute job costs: model + review + maintenance.

Assumptions of this calculation
  • Each “attempt” is one model run on a task; when the error rate is r, each task is expected to take 1 ÷ (1 − r) attempts and model cost scales by the same factor.
  • Human review is done once per job (on the final output), not per attempt; if the reviewer is what drives retries, enter a higher review minutes figure.
  • Rejected tasks still incur model and review cost; therefore “cost per successful task” = total monthly cost ÷ number of accepted tasks.
  • The dollar rate and price per million tokens are your own inputs; the tool does not read any rate or price from elsewhere.
  • Monthly maintenance cost is assumed fixed and setup cost is one-off; interest, tax and depreciation are not in the calculation.
  • Comparison with the current state only reflects human labor cost for the same work; better or worse quality, speed, and risk are not in the number.
Input sheets, results (with formulas that recalculate when inputs change), and method. The file is built and sent immediately and is not kept on the server.

Calculation method and assumptions

  • Cost per attempt = (input tokens × price per million input tokens + output tokens × price per million output tokens) ÷ 1,000,000 × dollar rate; or a direct amount you enter (in dollars × rate, or in toman).
  • Expected attempts per task = 1 ÷ (1 − error rate). At 8% error rate, each task averages 1.09 attempts; model cost per task = cost per attempt × this factor. Error rate of 100% or more is undefined and the tool warns.
  • Review cost per job = review minutes ÷ 60 × reviewer hourly cost; once per job, not per attempt.
  • Monthly AI cost = number of tasks × (model cost per task + review cost per task) + monthly maintenance.
  • Cost per successful job = monthly AI cost ÷ (job count × acceptance rate). Rejected jobs have consumed their cost but produced no result; that is why the denominator is accepted jobs only.
  • Current state: cost per job = manual minutes ÷ 60 × current hourly cost, and monthly = job count × that figure. If rejected jobs are done manually (the default), their cost is added to the proposed scenario.
  • Monthly savings = current monthly cost − suggested monthly cost; setup payback (months) = setup cost ÷ monthly savings. When savings are not positive, the tool says "no payback", not a number.
  • The sensitivity table recalculates all figures once with acceptance rate ±10 percentage points and once with error rate ±5 percentage points (within the allowed range).
  • The dollar rate and price per million tokens are your own inputs. The dated reference table above the form is not used in any calculation.

Limitations and misuse

  • This tool’s output is cost, not profit: revenue, better quality, response speed, and accepted error risk are not in the number. Monthly savings compares only human cost for the same work to AI cost.
  • Error rate and acceptance rate should come from a real experiment on your own data; example figures are hypothetical. A small experiment (a few hundred jobs) is better than any guess.
  • Tokens per job depend on the model, prompt and language; Persian text usually uses more tokens than English. For an exact count, use the provider's own token counter.
  • You choose the dollar rate and you are responsible for it; this tool neither reads nor suggests a free-market or official rate. As the rate moves, dollar costs change month to month.
  • Reference prices are dated and may have changed; prompt caching, batch processing, and volume discounts are also not in this calculation. Enter the price from the official page.
  • Hidden costs—data preparation, process change, team training, privacy, and compliance—belong in your setup or maintenance cost; the tool does not add them.
  • This tool is a calculator, not advice: none of the figures is a recommendation to buy, contract or invest.

Tasks per month
How model cost is entered
Input tokens per task
Output tokens per job
Price per million input tokens
Price per million output tokens
Cost per attempt — in tomans
Cost per attempt — in USD
Conversion rate per dollar
Rate source and date
Human review minutes per task
Reviewer hourly cost
Error/retry rate — percent of attempts that must be redone
Output acceptance rate — % of jobs whose output is ultimately usable
One-time setup cost
Monthly maintenance
Current time per task
Hourly cost of current labour
Comparison horizon
Rejected tasks
